It has been a super busy time of the year and also the hottest. I struggle to remember the last time this country was this consistently hot, week after week. I enjoy the heat but it's not that great when your country is not built for the extreme, certainly when you're travelling about and air conditioning is exactly what you need but only a small window is available. Oh well. The beauty of the summer is of course, the weather and greenery, but also the long days where it stays light until 9pm. There's so much energy in the day to do what you want to do and enough time to do it in.
I was recently in Glasgow and it was beautiful. The sun was shining through and it was surprisingly warm for what I assume Scotland weather to be like. This was my second visit to the city and luckily I got to stay in the West End area this time, allowing me to see what else this city has to offer. There are some great places to eat, especially on Byers Road by the University of Glasgow, and a great little place called the Ox & Finch on Sauchiehall Street.

Despite the difficulty in getting up there by train (need a long gap before I attempt a 6+hour train journey again, especially through London!), I was able to see the beautiful scenery as I got closer to Scotland (due to the detour I had to take via the coast to Edinburgh before getting to Glasgow). This train ride is known for it's scenery so I thought I'd share it here, along with the beautiful city of Glasgow and its university's rich history, dating back to 1451. I would also strongly recommend visiting the Hunterian Museum. It is Scotland's oldest museum and there are several buildings around the university's campus specialising in different areas, such as zoology, art and anatomy.
